Gabapentin is used in dogs and cats for:

  • chronic or neuropathic pain
  • osteoarthritis, as part of combination therapy
  • anxiety, particularly in cats
  • multimodal pain management support

Dosage

Gabapentin is available as oral capsules or tablets in the following strengths:

  • 100 mg
  • 300 mg
  • 600 mg

The strength and dosing frequency are adjusted based on the animal’s weight, clinical response, and kidney function.

Gabapentin is typically given 2 to 3 times per day by mouth.
It may be administered with or without food.
